Tucked away on the borders of Devon and Dorset is the Picturesque village of Hawkchurch.
In 1878 the Rev. John Going, a famous rose grower, became rector to the Parish and he planted rose trees on the walls of the village cottages which gave Hawkchurch its Title 'he village of roses". Many of those trees are still evident today giving the cottages a scented splash of colour.
Another title Hawkchurch is proud to hold is that of Best Kept Village, having
won This title three times in 1993, 1996 and 1997. Also in 1997 at
its first attempt in the Britain in Bloom Competition Hawkchurch won the Clem
Preece Memorial Cup as Best New Entrants to the competition.
Hawkchurch has held a Village Fete on August Bank Holiday Monday for some
50 years or more in one form or another. Over recent years this
has expanded to include events taking place over the entire weekend
