Abbeyfield is a national charity providing housing with care to older people. There are over 900 houses throughout the UK, run by about 600 Abbeyfield Societies.

Abbeyfield Houses are set up and run by groups of local volunteers. Over 15,000 volunteers give their time on behalf of residents, ensuring that each feels at home and supported.

There are two types of Abbeyfield House. The majority provide Very Sheltered Housing, and there are over 900 of these. They typically offer a paid housekeeper, call alarm systems, two cooked meals a day, private rooms and support from local volunteers. There are also 67 Registered Residential Care Houses, where extra care and comfort is provided for residents with higher dependency. In these houses high quality care is offered by qualified staff 24 hours a day, who look after all the needs of those less able to look after themselves.
